As I was putting away my latest Julep colors (don’t worry, bought them in July, not in no-buy August), I realized that I have a horrible, gaping hole in my nail polish collection.

You guys. I don’t have any red nail polish! How basic is that??

I suspect that this is because I get pedis done at a local nail salon (every 3ish weeks except during – you guessed it! – no-buy August), and pretty much only do manis at home. And I gravitate more to pinks and nudes with my manis.

But still! I think having a good, solid red in the collection is a must. Here are a few that I’m liking…

OPI Classic Shades Nail Lacquer, I'm Not Really a Waitress
(A beloved classic for a very good reason – it’s gorgeous! OPI in “I’m Not Really A Waitress” – photo via drugstore.com)

(I’m obsessed with the brush & formula of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure, and this is a perfect, classic red – Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in “Red My Lips” – photo via SallyHansen.com)

And, thanks to Makeup Talk, I’m learning about (and obsessing over!) the indie polish world. Click here or here to see a few great indie brand reds. I think these are both going to end up on my “To Buy” list once we get through August.

What are your favorite reds? And how on earth did I got so long without having red in my collection??
